Prep for extended study: Conclusion

I believe the outcomes of my brief have formed a strong preparatory foundation for extended study. My style has notably changed from the beginning to the end of my project. By being fluid with linework, colours and mediums, I have now recognised my true visual language in illustration, which I have been trying to work towards throughout my whole degree. I have really enjoyed creating work for this project and being involved with a range of processes and university facilities. From practising narratives around the form and position of shoes to refining a ‘girl’s night out’ scenario, I have explored numerous narratives relating to nightclub culture. It has been fun creating my own brief and revolving it around a strong interest of mine. Connecting my passion for music and its sociability with illustration has made a significant contribution to my visual language. This subject matter is going to be at the core of my illustration practise. I am continuously fascinated by the ways in which music and nightclubs bring people from different backgrounds together, and how it can help them during a difficult point in their lives. I ultimately believe that I have met the purpose of this module, as I can now progress into extended study with confidence in my visions and ideas. I am eager to delve deep into my role as an illustrator and refine a precise area of my subject.
